Three Dominion games Hilary and I played over the course of the week. I think counting some earlier games, Hilary ripped off 4 victories in a row before I finally won. Since the introduction of Intrigue, I've probably been a bit too obsessed with making my deck "interesting" and maybe not concentrating enough on making it "good."
Actually, I did the same thing when I was playing Magic: The Gathering back in college. I would create decks that, when they worked, beat people in unexpected ways. Of course, the reason it was unexpected is because they really weren't very efficient decks. If I wanted to go all analyst on myself, I could tell you that it was my way of protecting myself from failure - I knew I was taking substandard decks into competition, so if they lost, it wasn't really a failure so much as a consequence of intentional sub-optimization.
