Dominion: Curses!

We dealt out another hand of Dominion (along with Intrigue) and had a pretty interesting set of cards this time out.

The Witch was present, and John had his copper split 5/2 and was able to pick up one right off the bat. I on the other hand was unable to come up with a hand of 5 gold for several turns, and when I finally did, I had 6 and opted for Gold instead. Hilary and Carissa bought a few Witches as well, and soon all 30 curse cards were out, 10 of them in my deck.

The Steward was also in play, a versatile card that lets you draw 2 cards, get 2 money, or trash 2 cards. This seemed like it would be particular useful with the curses in play, so I got a couple of those and was able to get at least some of the curses out of my deck.

However, I missed out on the point that the Gardens (1 point/10 cards in your deck) were in play, as well as the Baron, a card that allows you to either discard an Estate (1-point victory card) for 4 money, or draw another estate. Carissa used this too huge advantage to cram a whole bunch of cards into her hand to make her gardens quite valuable.

However, she hit upon this strategy a little late (we are all pretty new to this, especially the Intrigue cards), and the fact that John had bought and played Witches faster than any of us proved too difficult to counter.

Scores:
John - 34
Carissa - 33
Chris - 19
Hilary - 9

Game time: 45 minutes

  1. I've figured out that Dominion is secretly Magic: The Gathering. It is! Don't deny it!
